🔥 SERMON: OVERCOMING EVIL POWERS FROM THE FATHER’S HOUSE
INTRODUCTION
Every family has a spiritual history. Some families inherit obvious blessings, others inherit deep battles. The Bible shows that what happens in a family often flows down generations.
- “You shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations…”
— Exodus 20:5 - “Our fathers sinned and are no more, but we bear their iniquities.”
— Lamentations 5:7
But the good news:
- “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us…”
— Galatians 3:13
So yes, evil powers from the father’s house exist, but the power of God is greater.
🔥 PART 1 — WHAT ARE “POWERS FROM THE FATHER’S HOUSE”?
These are ancestral, foundational powers that operate through the bloodline, enforcing patterns and limitations.
📌 They manifest as:
- Repeated poverty
- Barrenness or delay in childbearing
- Marital failures and broken homes
- Sickness that runs in the family
- Near-success syndrome
- Untimely death
- Addictions and recurring iniquities
Biblical pattern:
- Abraham’s family and barrenness:
Sarah was barren (Genesis 11:30),
Rebekah was barren (Genesis 25:21),
Rachel was barren (Genesis 29:31). - Gideon’s father’s altar to Baal: “Tear down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the wooden image that is beside it.”
— Judges 6:25–26 - David’s family and sexual sin:
David with Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11),
Amnon with Tamar (2 Samuel 13),
Solomon and many wives (1 Kings 11:1–4).
These show family patterns and father’s house influences.
🔥 PART 2 — WHY DO THESE POWERS WAR AGAINST DESTINIES?
- To stop God’s purpose for that lineage
- John 10:10 — “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…”
- To keep people at the same level as their forefathers
- Psalm 106:6 — “We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity…”
- To enforce old covenants and altars
- Psalm 11:3 — “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
- To resist the rising of a deliverer
- Gideon was resisted while Israel was oppressed until he confronted the altar in his father’s house. Judges 6:25–28
But God always raises one person to break the pattern:
“But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.”
— Obadiah 1:17
🔥 PART 3 — HOW GOD DELIVERS FROM POWERS OF THE FATHER’S HOUSE
1️⃣ Through the Blood of Jesus
- Hebrews 12:24 — “To Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things…”
- Revelation 12:11 — “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…”
The blood cancels covenants, silences altars, and rewrites family stories.
2️⃣ Through Breaking Altars and Evil Foundations
God told Gideon:
“Tear down the altar of Baal… and build an altar to the LORD your God.”
— Judges 6:25–26
You cannot keep the old altar and walk in new covenant freedom.
- 2 Corinthians 5:17 — “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation…”
3️⃣ Through Renouncing and Rejecting Old Covenants
- Hosea 4:6 — “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…”
You must verbally renounce evil covenants made by ancestors, consciously or unconsciously, and declare allegiance to Christ alone.
4️⃣ Through Deliverance and Prophetic Declarations
- Job 22:28 — “You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you…”
- Proverbs 18:21 — “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…”
What you declare repeatedly becomes part of your spiritual reality.
5️⃣ Through Raising a New Altar to God
Abraham, David, Elijah all raised altars to the Lord.
- Genesis 12:7 — “Then he built an altar to the LORD, who had appeared to him.”
- 1 Kings 18:30 — Elijah repaired the altar of the LORD before calling down fire.
Your prayer life, your sacrifice, your obedience, your worship — these form a new altar that speaks for you and your children.
🔥 PART 4 — WHAT HAPPENS WHEN GOD BREAKS THE POWERS OF THE FATHER’S HOUSE?
- Patterns break
- “The yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.” — Isaiah 10:27
- Curses are reversed
- “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law…” — Galatians 3:13
- You become a new starting point
- “You are a chosen generation…” — 1 Peter 2:9
- Your children step into freedom instead of bondage
- “The generation of the upright will be blessed.” — Psalm 112:2
You become the Abraham, the Gideon, the Joseph of your bloodline — the one God used to change the story.

I decree over you:
“For the LORD your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.”
— Deuteronomy 20:4
From today:
- the patterns are breaking,
- the altars are falling,
- the chains are melting,
- and your destiny is rising.
